Sweden has kicked out three times more Brits after Brexit than any other European country. The European Commission has failed to lift a finger to help them. If it cares at all about the free movement of people it needs to act, argues James Savage.

I don't understand the issue. How are they being treated unfairly? There was plenty of information leading up to Brexit, as well as clear instructions on what they needed to do to stay post-Brexit. If Brits are being kicked out now because they failed to meet application deadlines, then it sounds to me like the Brits themselves are responsible for what is happening to them, regardless of how long they had lived in Sweden legally. I'm well aware that there are MANY issues with Swedish immigration law and process (and have experienced some of them myself), but that affects all nationalities. If they were Somalis who had failed to meet application deadlines, would we be claiming injustice?
  • Most of the people rejected did actually apply on time but were refused post-Brexit residency because the Migration Agency judged that they did not meet the requirements around income, housing etc.

Advice please James on how we should vote at the forthcoming election to express our dismay at this policy implemented in almost gestapo style against the British? Nigel and Åsa-Britt Bergqvist Bradshaw
